Last Friday evening I enjoyed a relaxing dinner with friends at the new Boardwalk on Bulverde, San Antonio’s first food truck trailer park. The park is located at 14732 Bulverde Road north of Stahl Road.
Eight food trucks are regularly parked on the lot Tuesday through Sunday. You can check the park’s Facebook page for last-minute changes and updates on hours and food trucks. A playground and outdoor tables make for a relaxing family-friendly dining area. We didn’t realize it was BYOB so made a quick trip to a nearby convenience store for beer and wine.
My friends and I tried out different food trucks although we didn’t really share our food since everyone was very hungry. I had a plate of Mini Tacos and an order of chips and salsa from Tin Can Tacos. I especially enjoyed the pineapple habanero salsa that came with the chips and tacos. My fellow diners tried the Cuban Panini from Bistro Six, a burger from Toasty Buns and a sandwich with sweet potato fries from Wheelie Gourmet. All the food was pronouced good and devoured quickly. For dessert I had a dense delicious coconut cupcake from Saweet Cupcakes. I spent about $13 on tacos, chips and a cupcake which seemed very reasonable for a dinner out.
When we arrived about 7 pm the parking lot in the back was full so we had to park on the side of Bulverde Road. I didn’t try out the restrooms but my friends said some were available in the mechanic shop next door.
