San Antonio should hold onto the distiction of having one of the largest Martin Luther King, Jr. marches in the country judging by the large turnout at the event this morning. Thousands of people marched, lined the route and participated in the festival at the end of the route.
The march kicked off at 10 am in front of the King Academy and ended about three miles later at Pittman-Sullivan Park . A large stage was set up at the park along with a long row of food and drink booths. Community organizations also handed out information about their programs. The cool overcast weather was nice for walking. The slow pace of the march made it easy for people of all ages, including those being pushed in strollers, to participate.
