The River City Ringers presented three holiday concerts this weekend. I attended the concert on Friday night at Trinity United Methodist Church with several ringers from my church group. The other concerts this weekend presented by the RCR were on Saturday, December 11th, at St. John Lutheran Church in Boerne and on Monday, December 13th at Travis Park United Methodist Church. Admission was free and open to the public.
The ringers played a variety of traditional holiday songs including “Coventry Carol,” “Bell Carol Fantasy” and “Lo How a Rose E’er Blooming.” The program ended with an upbeat percussive song called “On This Day Earth Shall Ring.” The ringers were accompanied by Bethany Hirota-Mabry on percussion, Taun Miner on flute, and Matt Goodson, Peter Gross and Lana Potts on organ and synthesiser.
The River City Ringers are a San Antonio area community group comprised of 12 advanced-level handbell ringers. They rehearse for two hours per week and ring on five octaves of bells and chimes.
