Many San Antonio churches host special music performances during the holiday season. Abiding Presence Lutheran Church, the church I attend, is hosting concerts on three Thursdays in December from noon to 12:30 pm. The community is invited to enjoy the Noels at Noon performances and a light lunch afterward.
The concert this week (December 2) featured Matt Goodson and John Stuart presenting a program of cello and organ music. The program (below) included Christmas carols, classical selections and a modern Cello composition by Mark Summers. Next Thursday, December 9, Churchill High School’s Cambridge Chorale (which includes my son) will perform from noon to 12:30 pm. On November 16 Madolyn Fallis will take the pipe organ for a holiday spin, with soprano Jillian Cox as soloist.
Other upcoming musical performances at APLC include a Harps and Handbells concert on Sunday, December 5, at 3 pm and the San Antonio Brass Christmas Concert on December 7 at 7:30 pm. I’ll be attempting to ring bells with the handbell group. Our annual harp and bell concert is very relaxing in case you are getting stressed by holiday preparations.
All the performances are in the church sanctuary. The church is located at the intersection of Oak Shadows and the access road for Highway 281/San Pedro. Oak Shadows is the exit between Bitters and Brookhollow.
