The 2010 Valero Texas Open Benefit for Children Golf Classic Welcome Party featured Adam Scott, winner of the 2010 Valero Texas Open, the Kilgore College Rangerettes, the Ross Volunteers of Texas A&M University, and Canyon Elementary student Angelica Vargas singing the National Anthem. Mike Ciskowski and Bill Klesse of Valero Energy thanked the sponsors and donors. The Valero Texas Open and Benefit for Children Golf Classic together raised $8 million for children’s charities. Valero and J.J. White, Inc. also announced a $50,000 donation to Feed The Children in Haiti.
The Welcome Party was held in the ballrooms at the new JW Marriott San Antonio Hill Country Resort & Spa. I was excited to look around the resort. It reminded me of a cruise ship (in a good way – I love cruise ships) with a library, numerous lounges, water park, spa, game room, restaurants, etc. The resort felt very secluded and would make for a nice escape without having to drive too far. I am not a golf fan but the golf course is a very pretty green backdrop for the resort.
