San Antonio has some fun places to shop for holiday gifts. The Pearl Brewery hosted a holiday market Saturday with music, food and crafts for sale. A band was playing and a varity of craft and food booths were set up in the front parking lot. We bought a nicely wrapped Stollen bread from Sol y Luna bakery to serve when our German relatives visit next week.
The Guadalupe Cultural Arts Center (GCAC) hosted their annual Hecho a Mano art and craft market Saturday inside the Guadalupe Theater. A variety of art, jewelry, clothing and other decorated items were offered for sale. My daughter especially liked the photographs of Guatemala and Mexico.
On the recommendation of a friend I visited two other stores for “made in San Antonio” gifts. Segovia Mexican Candy, located at 1837 Guadalupe Street, sells several varieties of candy including pralines and colorful coconut candy. You can purchase the candy individually or in a gift box. Bolner’s Meat Market has operated at 2900 S Flores since 1914. The market includes a deli, meat, cooked BBQ and trimmings, Fiesta spices and other food items such as jalapeno brittle and jerky. I purchased spices and BBQ sauce to give to family members.
